Memento: Fragments of the Srebrenica Genocide is an oral history project and photography exhibition that presents objects donated by Srebrenica Genocide survivors and victims’ families for permanent viewing and preservation at the Srebrenica Memorial Center.

Each object is paired with a portrait of the person who donated it and a personal testimony detailing their life and their fight to survive during the Srebrenica Genocide in 1995.

Containing 20 stories and 25 objects gathered from the private collections of victims’ families, mass graves around Eastern Bosnia, and the path of the infamous “Death March”, Fragments of the Srebrenica Genocide commemorates the lives of 61 people who were killed.

This exhibition is based on findings from the International Commission on Missing Persons, Missing Persons Institute of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Srebrenica Memorial Center.

On July 10, 2020 on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of Srebrenica Genocide, we were honored to present our latest project MEMENTO: Fragments of the Srebrenica Genocide in the Srebrenica Memorial Center.

This project is generously supported by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) and is a permanent part of the Memorial Center’s exhibitions.
